I met the lovely Anna while I was working on the first Make Believe Wedding shoot with Insight Creative and was immediately taken with her quirky dress-sense and bubbly personality. So when she told me she needed help with styling her upcoming wedding I was happy to assist. I knew that with her love of all things quirky and her desire to keep her wedding as untraditional as possible, it would be so much fun to style.
And once I’d met Tom, well, I was completely in love with the both of them. And when you read about Tom’s very special proposal to Anna (click on ‘engagement’), you’d better make sure there is a box of tissues nearby – so adorable, unique and funny all at the same time.
Anna and Tom had recently bought their first home together – a beautiful old Queenslander house with a large backyard and gorgeous big old mango tree. So they had decided on a wedding at home with their closest family and friends. Anna is a graphic designer and designed her own invitations and wedding stationery – the colour and feel of these was the starting point for the styling of the wedding.
Anna wanted something relaxed, untraditional and with an English county fair feel. In her words ‘English vintage with a touch of kitsch’. To achieve this we used lots of vintage patterned fabrics, an amazing collection of antique plates and tea sets, and decorations in vibrant yellow, orange and blue.
The wedding had such a personal, warm feel to it……it was simply beautiful.
