Hi Lisa! I'm completely self-taught or self-learned, whatever you want to call it. I have no formal qualifications as a 'stylist' though I have looked into several different courses at different times but never found anything I felt could really teach me what I want to learn (at least not in Australia). At the moment I feel that experience and just constant on-the-job training is working for me. But I know I still have soooo much to learn and if I do find a course that I think will be of benefit I'll be there! (and I'll be sure to post about it too!)

Great article!

What kind of course or study would you recommend someone who would want to get into styling? I currently do it but am thinking it would be nice to have a formal qualification just open up more job prospectives.

Thanks,
Lisa

Hi Amber. Thank you for your lovely comments! These heels seem to have caused quite a stir! You are right, they are from a fab shoe store here in Townsville called Shoedini. I have spoken to the owner Marisa and she has checked, but unfortunately we cannot find anywhere that they can be ordered online. If you are super keen though, she does still have a few of these left in stock, as I write in sizes size 36, 38, 2 x 39 and 41, and she would be willing to post them. You can contact her directly by email shoedini@bigpond.com

The photos are fabulous! I'm so impressed! I know the shoes featured are a one of a kind from your neck of the woods... but over here in the states that single shoe has exploded on pinterest and thus catapulting your site and photos. Any chance you'd be able to find a link or contact to order the blush pink peep toes heels with the rolled bow on the back?? Thanks!!

Thanks for the comment! In a perfect world I would say 'yes!', it is wonderful to have both a wedding planner and a wedding stylist (and there are many companies out there that can do both - they have both planners and stylists on staff). But I know that in reality many brides simply cannot afford both. It really comes down to what is most important to you, and how much you want to do yourself! In my case, the majority of my clients opt to do the planning themselves - they book a venue, organise catering, music, keep their own budgets, etc - and then bring me in to style the whole event.

I can't speak for other stylists, but when I do an event I also take control of the set-up of the day (unless there is a wedding planner on board to do this), and work with the venue coordinator (if there is one) - it is really the only way that I can ensure everything looks exactly how I (and the bride) want it to look. So most of my clients work hard in the lead-up to the wedding, then are able to sit back and enjoy their day knowing that I am there to ensure everything looks just perfect.
